Welcome
Welcome to the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at Wayne State University.
As part of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, our division is proud to serve a diverse and medically complex patient population across Detroit and Southeast Michigan. We are committed to excellence in patient care, research, and education—core pillars that define our mission and guide everything we do.
Our clinical programs provide comprehensive care across a broad spectrum of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep disorders- from advanced lung conditions such as airway and interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary hypertension, and lung cancer to life-threatening conditions in our intensive care units and the full range of sleep-related breathing disorders. We work across the Detroit Medical Center, Karmanos Cancer Center, The John D. Dingell VAMC, and Wayne Health, offering multidisciplinary, patient-centered care grounded in the latest scientific evidence.
Education is a central mission of our division. We train the next generation of physicians in our ACGME-accredited fellowship programs through robust clinical teaching and scholarly mentorship. Our trainees benefit from the depth of our clinical experience, the diversity of our patient population, and the commitment of our faculty to education.
Research in our division is focused on improving outcomes in lung disease, critical illness, and sleep health, with an emphasis on addressing the needs of vulnerable and underserved populations. From extramurally funded translational research to clinical trials and disease outcomes studies, our work reflects a deep commitment to both scientific advancement and health equity.
Wayne State University’s urban mission and excellence in education and research provide us with a unique platform to lead, innovate, and advocate. Whether you are a patient, a prospective trainee, or a collaborator, I invite you to learn more about who we are, what we do, and how we are working to advance the field of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.
Warm Regards,
